Welcome to Asenjo Energy, a company committed to accelerating the evaluation and development of significant coal resources in Botswana.

The world is experiencing a global energy crisis, to which Botswana is not immune. The world's population is growing at a quarter of a million people per day and reliable energy is required for sustained economic development. In Botswana's case, a country that has no known petroleum resources, the future of energy lies in the development of massive coal resources within the country.
Coal will be the future of energy and sustained economic growth in Botswana.
Two thirds of the world does not have access to modern energy services. Whilst alternative energy sources are investigated, the world still largely depends on fossil fuel. Coal is the abundant fossil fuel in the Southern African region. Coal fuels more than one-third of global electricity production and growth in energy demand is particularly strong in coal-dependent areas such as Southern Africa, China and India.
The Asenjo Energy assets include five prospecting permits with a total prospecting area of 1,316 km2. The work programme to define resources commenced in November 2007 and phase three has recently been completed culminating in the completion of an updated ITR in September 2010. Drilling commenced in January 2008 and the Dukwe project was identified as the preferred development option to fulfil the Shareholder's aspirations of the development of a mine-mouth energy generating complex with additional projects in Western Mmamabula (export) and Lechana (power and export) underway.
